Stormers keep URC hero


The DHL Stormers have reportedly fended off curiosity from France to persuade a key playmaker to signal a long-term extension.

In keeping with Sunday newspaper Rapport, Manie Libbok has turned down a transfer to Racing 92 and can as a substitute lengthen his contract with the Stormers till 2027.

Libbok, who joined from the Sharks in 2021, had only one 12 months left on his present contract with Western Province Rugby, which ends in 2024.

The Springbok flyhalf was on Racing’s radar because the French giants are on the hunt for a substitute for Scotland star Finn Russell, who will be a part of English aspect Tub after the World Cup.

Libbok is reportedly very pleased in Cape City, the place he has turned his profession round by serving to the Stormers into two successive Vodacom United Rugby Championship finals, successful one.

Racing have already recruited Springbok captain Siya Kolisi from the Sharks, however have bid farewell to fullback Warrick Gelant, who has returned to the Stormers.
