Reds grounds crew member gets gobbled up by ‘tarp monster’ during weather delay

One member of the Cincinnati Reds‘ grounds crew was not as quick as he wanted to be throughout Monday evening’s climate delay at Nice American Ballpark.

Rain started to fall within the eighth inning of a 2-2 tie between the San Francisco Giants and the Reds, and the grounds crew was instructed to deliver out the tarp.

A grounds crew member slipped and was swallowed by the large tarp as the remainder of the crew saved pulling it over the infield grime.

Nice American Ballpark has a historical past with so-called “tarp monsters.” Two years in the past, a tarp wreaked havoc when a grounds crew member briefly disappeared on the onset of a climate delay in Cincinnati.
