“Sometimes you just have to believe in it,” says Max Verstappen. “Nevertheless, you are of course often skeptical. Will it work out with the new engine partner? I also had my doubts. From time to time I also thought about leaving the team, but in the meantime I have also developed enormously as a driver,” explains the Dutchman . However, Verstappen never implemented this change idea.

F1 dominance as a reward for hard work and loyalty

To date, the Dutchman has driven all his Formula 1 races for Red Bull and sister team AlphaTauri, then Toro Rosso. The new Formula 1 dominators are now called Verstappen and Red Bull. “You never forget who made it possible for you to get into Formula 1 in the first place. You also have to remain loyal to this side. We have all these years waiting to get into a situation like this and now we’re enjoying it,” the reigning world champion looks back.

“People ask me if I find it boring. No, I don’t think so. That’s what I worked for. There were so many years where we were close and we thought next year would be, but then it didn’t work out again,” reports Verstappen.

“Even so, of course we’re aware that others are in the same role now as we were then. We know what they want to achieve and we have to try to stay ahead and push as hard as we can. So for me it’s at the moment definitely not boring.”
